Chincoteague's Annual Pony Swim, Auction and Firemen's Carnival
At the end of every July marks one of the most famous and exciting events on Chincoteague Island: the wild pony round-up, swim and auction. Come and experience this celebration and firemen fund raiser first hand. Watch saltwater cowboys round up the herd of wild ponies and guide them through the channel from Assateague to Chincoteague. Enjoy the pony auction as a bystander or join in the fun—surprise your precious one with a bid on their very own Assateague pony! This week long event is filled with many town activities including the Firemen' Carnival. The Comfort Suites kicks off the celebration with fun for the whole family: a boardwalk social with kids' activities, live music, snacks and grilled light fare and a viewing of the movie, Misty of Chincoteague.
